Constructs: Jung's ideas, bound to measures or kept interpretive

A construct either has an operational definition (variables, plane, window, computation and evidence tier) or it stays in the interpretive lexicon, where no conformant output may compute or display it.

The constructs

ATS-1 constructs
ConstructOperational definitionEvidence tier
ArchetypeNone. Interpretive lexicon only.Inspiration
ComplexWithin-person reactivity: change in momentary affect and heart rate after an experience-sampling tag for a recurring personal theme, against the person's untagged baselineHypothesis
EnantiodromiaA sustained shift of the State Index mean beyond the baseline band; the precursor is estimated by the State-Change SignalModel, mixed evidence (single plane); Hypothesis (cross-plane)
Shadow possessionInterpretive lexicon only. Never a participant-facing label.Inspiration
WillAgency and goal-pursuit items in experience sampling, plus the gap between self-set intentions and observed behavior, such as planned versus actual sleep onsetHypothesis
IndividuationLong-horizon (six months or more) trajectory of WHO-5 and ResilienceHypothesis
CoherenceStrength of within-person coupling across planes; descriptive, not a health scoreModel

These are proposals

The operational definitions are ANTRL's proposals, marked as design choices. No published source operationalizes these Jungian terms this way, which is why most carry the Hypothesis tier.

A historical precedent

The complex has a measurable history: in 1907 Peterson and Jung measured skin electrical resistance and breathing while people responded in word-association tests.

The interpretive lexicon

Archetype means a recurring pattern a person keeps returning to; shadow possession, a state that persists after its cause is gone. These words guide interpretation in research discussion. They are not outputs, scores or labels. See what ATS-1 will not do.

Questions

Why use Jungian language at all?

Because it names patterns people recognize. ATS-1 keeps the names, binds each to a measure or marks it interpretive, and tags how strong the evidence is.

How ATS-1 restates Jung: complex, will, individuation and coherence as testable hypotheses; archetype and shadow stay interpretive only.
