The five indices
Every index is reported with its uncertainty, its data window and the ATS-1 version used, and components are always shown beside any composite.
The indices
| Index | What it describes | Output |
|---|---|---|
| State Index | Today versus your own 28-day baseline, across Planes I and II | Daily value with components |
| Resilience | How quickly day-to-day dips recover | Recovery rate and half-life |
| State-Change Signal | Whether recovery is slowing, as a research estimate | A graded statement, never an alert |
| Coherence | How strongly the planes move together | Coefficients with intervals |
| Metabolic Balance | The trend in body mass over at least 28 days | kg per week, descriptive |
Descriptive, not diagnostic
None of the indices is a health score. Each describes patterns relative to the person's own baseline. ATS-1 is for research and general wellness only. It does not diagnose, treat, prevent or predict any disease, including any mental health condition.
Questions
Can the indices be combined into one score?
Composites must show their components, so no single number can hide what drives it.

State IndexThe ATS-1 State Index: robust z-scores of HRV, sleep and affect against a 28-day personal baseline, using the median and MAD.Resilience (recovery half-life)How ATS-1 measures resilience as recovery speed: an AR(1) model of nightly HRV gives a recovery rate λ = −ln φ and a half-life t½ = ln 2 / λ over 60 days.State-Change SignalThe ATS-1 State-Change Signal: rising autocorrelation and variance tested against surrogate data, reported as a graded statement.Coherence and Metabolic BalanceTwo descriptive ATS-1 indices: Coherence, the coupling between planes from a multilevel VAR, and Metabolic Balance, the body-mass trend.
