Three planes, one organizing principle
ATS-1 reads a person on three planes at once. Each plane has set points, and feedback pulls it back toward them.
The planes
| Plane | Covers | Primary data | Role in indices |
|---|---|---|---|
| I · Physical | The body in the world: sleep, movement, light, heart | Nightly sleep timing and duration; nightly lnRMSSD; activity; light (a proxy) | Time-series input |
| II · Psychoid | The mind as a system: states, moods, recurring patterns | WHO-5 every 14 days; momentary affect by experience sampling | Time-series input |
| III · Micro | The cell and its metabolism | Research biomarkers through partner laboratories | Moderator only; never in time-series models |
Recovery, not stillness
Health is treated as recovery: a system that recovers quickly is resilient, and one that recovers slowly may be closer to a change of state. ATS-1 tests how well this holds for individuals. The organizing principle, homeostasis expressed as deviation, feedback and recovery, is tagged Model, informed by homeostatic regulation, allostasis and the free-energy principle.
Where the name "psychoid" comes from
The physicist Wolfgang Pauli corresponded with Carl Jung from 1932 until his death in 1958. Jung's idea of a "psychoid" level, neither purely mental nor purely physical, was part of their discussions. This is ANTRL's inspiration, tagged Inspiration: it is never offered as evidence, and no ATS-1 measure depends on it. See evidence tiers.
What ATS-1 does not claim
- Particles are not organisms; ATS-1 constructs describe whole-person patterns.
- No ATS-1 output claims quantum effects in the mind.
- Unresolved load appearing as strain on another plane is a Hypothesis, not a finding.
Questions
Why is the micro plane a moderator only?
Biomarkers are sampled rarely and through laboratories, so they cannot support daily time-series models. They describe context for the other planes instead.
