What IEEE 1752.1-2021 defines

IEEE 1752.1-2021, the IEEE Standard for Open Mobile Health Data, standardizes how to represent metadata, sleep and physical-activity measures, and subjective reports such as surveys. It was published on 16 September 2021 and is listed as active (IEEE 1752.1-2021).

How Open mHealth relates

Open mHealth publishes open schemas under the Apache-2.0 license. Its repository marks its earlier sleep schemas as superseded by the IEEE 1752.1 sleep schemas (Open mHealth schemas repository). For clinical data systems, a community mapping from Open mHealth to FHIR also exists (Open mHealth to FHIR mapping).

Where HRV sits

The 2021 standard covers sleep, physical activity and metadata. The Open mHealth repository landing page does not list an HRV schema. Until a standard representation exists, record HRV with its measure, window, device and algorithm version, as ATS-1 requires.

How ATS-1 maps to it

ATS-1 Plane I mapping (summary)
ATS-1 itemWhere it goes
Sleep duration, onset, offset, midpointIEEE 1752.1 sleep measures
Activity and energy expenditureIEEE 1752.1 physical-activity measures, with energy shown as a ±20% band
Device, firmware, algorithm version, timezoneIEEE 1752.1 metadata
WHO-5 and experience-sampling answersSubjective reports
Nightly lnRMSSDRecorded with full provenance; no 1752.1 representation is claimed

What ATS-1 does and does not claim

  • ATS-1 requires Plane I exports to map to IEEE 1752.1-2021
  • ATS-1 does not replace these schemas, and its conformance levels are ANTRL's own, not IEEE's
  • P1752.2 is a project in development and must not be cited as a standard

Questions

Does using IEEE 1752.1 make a product conform to ATS-1?

No. Schema mapping is one Level 1 item. Conformance also covers provenance, sampling rules and claim wording.
